Uses of Oracort Dental Paste 0,1%

Oracort Dental Paste 0,1% is used for the temporary relief of symptoms from mouth sores due to injury. This drug comes in a dental paste that allows it to stick to the inside of the mouth/cheeks/gums. It works by reducing the swelling, itching, and pain that can occur with mouth sores. This medication is known as a medium-strength corticosteroid.

Precautions and Warnings

Before using Oracort Dental Paste 0,1% (triamcinolone), tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to other steroids (such as hydrocortisone); or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems.

Before using this medication, tell your doctor, dentist, or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: herpes-type infection, other infections/sores of the mouth or throat.

Rarely, using corticosteroid medications for a long time can make it more difficult for your body to respond to physical stress. Before having surgery or emergency treatment, or if you get a serious illness/injury, tell your doctor or dentist that you are using this medication or have used this medication within the past few months.

Though it is unlikely, this medication may temporarily slow down a child’s growth if used for a long time. See the doctor regularly so your child’s height can be checked.

During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when clearly needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

Dosage

Apply thinly at bedtime and up to 2-3 times a day if necessary, preferably after meals.
Do not rub in as this may result in a gritty sensation. The product forms a seal over the ulcer so that it can heal.
