Uses of Lotemax Ophthalmic Gel

Lotemax Ophthalmic Gel contains loteprednol, a corticosteroid mainly utilized for treating eye inflammation following cataract surgery. The gel’s principal purpose is to reduce inflammation in the eye. It is applied as eye drops to the conjunctival sac of the operated eye(s) multiple times daily, typically four times a day, for a duration of two weeks post-surgery.

Lotemax Ophthalmic Gel Precautions and Warnings

Consider the following precautions and warnings associated with Lotemax Ophthalmic Gel:

• Avoid using Lotemax Ophthalmic Gel if you have known allergies to loteprednol or any of its ingredients. Additionally, do not use it if you are allergic to other corticosteroids such as prednisone, prednisolone, or dexamethasone.

• Do not use this gel if you have or suspect an untreated bacterial, fungal, or viral eye infection (e.g., herpes simplex or varicella), as the corticosteroid can worsen the condition.

• Avoid wearing contact lenses while using Lotemax; preservatives in certain formulations of the gel may discolor soft contact lenses.

• Application of Lotemax Gel might result in temporary blurred vision. Refrain from driving or operating heavy machinery until your vision is fully restored. If you experience persistent vision changes, consult your doctor immediately.

Lotemax Ophthalmic Gel Directions for Use

Adhere to these instructions for using Lotemax Ophthalmic Gel:

• Usually, instill 1 to 2 drops into the conjunctival sac (the space between the eyeball and the eyelid) of the operated eye(s) four times daily.

• Begin using Lotemax Gel 24 hours after surgery and continue for two weeks post-surgery. The medication typically starts working immediately. If no improvement is observed within two days, consult your doctor.

• Before use, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water. Invert the closed bottle once and shake gently to prime the tip. Avoid contact between the dropper tip and any surface, including your eyes or fingers. If two drops are required, wait 30 seconds before applying the second drop. When using other eye medications, wait at least 15 minutes before applying them.
