Allergic Rhinitis

Allergic rhinitis, also known as hay fever, is a common condition caused by an allergic reaction to environmental allergens such as pollen, dust mites, or pet dander. Symptoms of allergic rhinitis include sneezing, runny nose, congestion, itching of the nose, throat, and eyes, watery eyes, postnasal drip, and fatigue. Treatment options include over-the-counter antihistamines or decongestants for mild cases and prescription medications such as corticosteroids for severe cases. Lifestyle changes such as avoiding allergens, keeping the home and workplace clean, using air filters, washing bedding and clothing frequently, and using saline nasal rinses can also help manage symptoms. Prevention of allergic rhinitis involves avoiding allergens and practicing good hygiene.
