Uses of Tagrisso
Tagrisso (osimertinib) is an oral (taken by mouth) kinase inhibitor that may be used to treat adults with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) whose tumors have certain abnormal epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) gene(s). It may be used:
- as adjuvant therapy to help prevent your lung cancer from coming back after your tumor(s) has been removed by surgery
- as your first treatment when your lung cancer has spread to other parts of the body (metastasized)
- when your lung cancer has spread to other parts of the body ((metastasized) and you have had previous treatment with an EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) medicine that did not work or is no longer working
- in combination with pemetrexed and platinum-based chemotherapy, as your first treatment when your lung cancer has spread to nearby tissues (locally advanced) or to other parts of the body (metastasized).
Precautions and Warnings
People who are allergic to any of the following should not take Tagrisso.
- Osimertinib
- Tagrisso
- Any of the ingredients in the specific product dispensed

Do not take Tagrisso unless it has been prescribed to you by a healthcare provider. Take it as prescribed.
Do not share Tagrisso with other people, even if they have the same condition as you. It may harm them.
If you are unable to swallow Tagrisso, ask your pharmacist or other healthcare provider about options to take the medicine. They can give you instructions about how to mix the tablets in water to make it easier to swallow. It is important to not crush or chew Tagrisso tablets.
Keep Tagrisso out of the reach of children.
Tell your healthcare provider about all of your health conditions and any prescription or over-the-counter (OTC) medicines, vitamins/minerals, herbal products, and other supplements you are using. This will help them determine if Tagrisso is right for you.
In particular, make sure that you discuss any of the following.
Tell your healthcare provider if you have any of the following.
- Heart problems
- Breathing or lung problems
- Electrolyte problems
- Eye problems
Tagrisso may interact with other medicines and supplements. Before taking Tagrisso, tell your healthcare provider about any prescription or over-the-counter (OTC) medicines, vitamins/minerals, herbal products, and other supplements you are using. See the Interactions section for more details.
Tagrisso may cause harm to an unborn baby. Tell your healthcare provider if you are or plan to become pregnant. You must not be pregnant before starting Tagrisso. If you can become pregnant, use effective birth control during treatment with Tagrisso and for 6 weeks after your last dose. If you are a male who has a female partner that can become pregnant, use effective birth control during treatment with Tagrisso and for 4 months after your last dose.
Do not undergo treatment with Tagrisso while you are breastfeeding and for 2 weeks after your last dose. It is not known if Tagrisso passes into breast milk. Tell your healthcare provider if you are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed.
Dosage
Tagrisso is usually taken once per day. The usual dosage is 80mg once daily, for all indications.

- muscle, bone, or joint pain
- diarrhea
- tiredness
- cough, mouth sores
- dry skin, rash or
- redness, tenderness, pain, or other problems with your fingernails or toenails.
